I’d like to share a quote from Calvin Coolidge, who was our thirtieth president, serving from 1923 to 1929. He was known as a man of few words—one of his nicknames was “Silent Cal,” but here’s one thing he said that I really like:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.  Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.  Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.  Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

“Persistence and determination are omnipotent.  The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

We have about two months left in the scout year before we go off to summer camp and/or Philmont or Sea Base etc.  Now is the perfect time to make one last push to get things signed off for advancement to get some practice in for your scout skills.

This weekend coming up is a conservation service project in Quicksilver let Ansh or AJ know you’re going, or see Mrs Yeung if you can help her.  The following week April 27th is Fish-a-thon we need to have as we say in the “Navy All hands on Deck!”  Let Anthony know (remember LOTS of great food Breakfast including donuts and Lunch)  The next week, May 3rd we have Trail To First Class at Henry Coe.  The weekend of May 10th is Scout-O-Rama.  The weekend of May 18th is Ohlone, that is a great test for your readiness for Philmont.
